1. Clear the drop-off spot
Move cars, trailers, and toys out of the way well before your delivery window. The driver needs the full length of the driveway plus room for the truck to back in. If the dumpster is going on the street, clear parked cars from that stretch the night before.
2. Check overhead and side clearance
- Overhead: watch for low branches, power lines, eaves, and basketball hoops — the truck bed rises high when it drops the box.
- Width: the truck needs roughly 10–12 feet of width to maneuver.
- Length: leave about 60 feet of straight space for delivery and pickup where possible.
3. Protect the surface
Roll-off dumpsters sit on small wheels and steel feet. On most concrete driveways that's fine, but if you have decorative pavers, fresh asphalt, or a surface you're particular about, lay down plywood boards where the dumpster will rest. It spreads the weight and prevents scratches or cracking.
4. Pick the right surface

5. Know which way you'll load
